Happy Tuesday everyone and I hope your morning started off a little better than ours. The girls fought last night before bed...so Bell addressed that in his letter this morning. Sophee understood and accepted what he said...not so much Olivia. In her words "it was stupid."
So for the letter the girls received this morning, it had to be altered from its original format. Here is a little snippet:
"Now, I want you girls to know that I heard you fighting before bed and
not listening to your parents. That's not how we are suppose to behave
towards our parents and siblings. Acts of kindness isn't just for
strangers; we should do these within our family as well. So today this
is a two part challenge. In Proverbs 16:24 it says: Pleasant words are a honeycomb,Sweet
to the soul and healing to the bones. I want you girls to tell
everyone you see in the morning "Good morning" and smile at them. I
know you can do it. I also want you girls to say kind words to one
another. Encourage your sister, say nice things to her. I know you can
do this as well"
So the random act of kindness today was for the girls to tell everyone good morning. Then as an added challenge, they had to speak kindly to one another. Sophee was very much on board with this...Olivia not so much. But thankfully they spoke kindly to one another once we left for school, so I will consider that a win!
I have to admit...I was exhausted last night. So our Elf was only sitting in the tree this morning...nothing exciting.
For the 2nd day of the Advent calendar, the verse came from Luke 1: 31-35 "and behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.” Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God."
Hopefully I will be more creative tonight with what Bell does. We shall see
Today's recipe really isn't hard at all, and its something that makes a great gift for all ages. Chocolate dipped spoons! And its more than just dipping a spoon in chocolate; there are so many creative things you can add to it. Here are some ingredients you can use
– spoons, plastic work best
– chocolate chips, regular and mini chips
– marshmallows
– coconut, shredded and sweetened
– peanut butter chips
– butterscotch chips
– crushed candy canes
– wax paper
– plate
Basically any flavor that comes in a chip will work, white chocolate, caramel, dark chocolate, etc. You can also use mini chocolate chips as decorations. Sprinkles and nuts will work too!
Here are the instructions
Heat up your chocolate chips for spoon dipping first. Place a 1/2 cup of
chocolate, or whatever, chips in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute.
Take it out and stir, then continue to heat it for 20 second intervals
until melted.
Once your chocolate is melted, dip your spoon into the bowl. You’ll need
to stir it around and turn it over to make sure you’ve got it all
covered in chocolate. Then set the spoon onto a plate covered in wax
paper. From there, you can decorate the spoons. Put sprinkles on, crushed peppermint, use marshmallows to make a snowman on the spoon, or use another flavor of chocolate to make designs on it. Then let everything harden. If you place it in the fridge it will take about 15 to 20 minutes. This are great to use in hot chocolate, milk, or even coffee (mmmmmmmmmm coffee.......)
These would be great little gifts for your child's friends or classmates, or do a group of spoons for your child's teachers, neighbors, or co workers.
So come back tomorrow and see what Bell gets into, what lesson he has from the bible for the girls, and what yummy treat you can make!
